A translation of traditional Japanese woodworking joints into a standardized CNC routed fabrication process. Completed with Garrett Vercoe and Ryan Shih.
The study began with research into traditional joints, from in-line to perpendicular connections.Using these joints, we designed a series of objects that could connect to other objects because of their common connection.Inspired by the prouns of Sol Lewitt, we created five total objects that defined space and could take on functions of their own.Extended aggregations from utilizing the objects.Prior to assembly of the objects, we laid out all of the individual pieces.Securing a joint with wedges
