A brief experiment using fabric, light, and a generative adversarial network to physically reflect the thoughts of a city.
A diagrammatic representation of how the GAN works to form a visual output from different scales of geolocated data.We began with literal depictions of a cityscape morphing over time.Eventually transitioning to a more abstract representation of sentiment and topics from Tweets and online conversations in realtime. These were projected onto translucent fabric layers to physically manifest the images in space. Though it was never built at the designed scale, the idea was that it would be able to represent the collective voice of citizens online.
